Henning leads golf tournament by one
KENOSHA Though the weather was cooler than the first two days, Kyle Henning stayed hot and shot a 6-under par 66 to take a one-shot lead into the final day of the 111th Wisconsin State Amateur Championship at Strawberry Creek Golf Club.
Henning, who plays out of Wanaki Golf Course in Menomonee Falls, made eight birdies and two bogeys in his third round. His back nine included four of those birdies and Henning only needed eleven putts over those nine holes.
Henning’s 8-under total is one shot better than Sam Frank of The Legend Clubs, who shot a 4-under par 68. Frank opened with a double bogey on the first hole, but recovered with seven birdies and only one other bogey over the remaining holes. The two will be paired together as the final group today.
Edgerton’s Dan Ozga (228) is tied for 43rd after a third-round 76. Janesville’s Sam Van Galder (232) is tied for 63rd, while Matt Behm (236) is tied for 73rd.
The fourth and final round is today.
