Janesville Legion rallies late
BURLINGTON Janesville’s American Legion baseball team rallied for a win Tuesday night.
Trailing 5-4 in the top of the seventh, Janesville scored five runs in pulling away for a 9-6 victory over Burlington.
Janesville (13-7) scored three runs in the sixth to cut the lead to one, then took advantage of three Burlington errors in the seventh to take the lead.
“We kept battling and battling,” Janesville coach Bob Schenck said. “The guys did a good job of putting the ball in play, and that allowed us to take advantage of a couple of miscues by Burlington.
“I was really pleased with the two innings of relief we got from Andrew Iverson. He came in and threw strikes and gave us a chance to come back.”
Charlie Meyer had a double and a triple for Janesville, while Aric Bobzien and Brandon Luebke drove in two runs each.
Janesville hosts Westosha at 7:15 p.m. today at Riverside Park.
