LumberKings hand Beloit Snappers second straight defeat

BELOIT — A late rally fell short Thursday night for the Beloit Snappers.

Trailing 6-2, Beloit scored single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings but could not get back to even in a 6-5 Midwest League loss to the Clinton Lumber-Kings at Pohlman Field.

Beloit banged out 11 hits but left eight runners on base in losing its second straight. Miguel Sano belted his 16th home run of the season for the Snappers, while JaDamion Williams had two hits and drove in two runs.

Tim Shibuya (3-5) suffered the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits in only four innings.

Game two of the three-game series is tonight.
