Parker softball debut doesn't end well
JANESVILLE Parker High School started the 2012 softball season on the wrong foot, suffering a 14-1 nonconference loss in five innings to visiting Rockton, Ill., Hononegah.
Hononegah roughed up two Vikings' pitchers for 16 hits, including a pair of home runs.
"Hononegah is a very disciplined hitting team," Parker coach Jenni Seisser said. "All the way through the line up, they have solid hitters.''
Parker junior starting pitcher Erin Muehlenkamp allowed seven runs through the first three innings, and senior Ashley Ross was touched for seven more through the final two innings of the game halted by the 10-run rule.
Despite getting tagged for 16 hits, Seisser said the Parker pitchers played well.
"We had four errors and some mental errors," Seisser said. "They also hit the ball and found some gaps. Credit their hitting performance. Neither of our pitchers pitched poorly.''
Parker plays Fort Atkinson and Milton in a doubleheader at 10 a.m. and noon at Dawson Field.
