Student expelled in drug case
JANESVILLE The Janesville School Board on Tuesday expelled a high school student accused of possessing marijuana on school grounds with intent to distribute it.
The student is expelled through the summer of 2014 but can apply for early reinstatement as soon as January 2013.
To earn early reinstatement, the student must comply with a variety of requirements, including getting alcohol/drug treatment and showing 90 days of sobriety immediately before returning to school.
After returning, the student must maintain complete sobriety, submit to random searches, continue counseling and drug treatment, and maintain satisfactory behavior, attendance and schoolwork.
This brings to eight the number of expulsions this school year, compared with seven at this time last year.
