— Janesville Craig continued its success in Big Eight Conference dual track and field season.

The Cougar boys went to 4-0 with a 91-50 victory over Madison Memorial at Madison on Tuesday.

The Craig girls improved to 3-1 with a 75-66 victory over their Spartan counterparts.

Coach Jeff Deininger’s boys squad used several second- and third-place finishes to get its victory.

“We’re continuing to improve,” Deininger said. “At this point of the season, that is what you want.

“Everyone did well.”

Coach Mark Marsden’s girls squad received outstanding performances from Maggie Slatter and Ashley Pohlman.

Slatter won the 100, the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and anchored the winning 800 relay team.

Pohlman won the triple jump and long jump and was on two winning relay teams.

“We were short-handed,” Marsden said. “Our two best distance runners were both home sick, and we had some younger runners step up. It was a good team win.

Both squads will compete in the Burlington Demon Invite on Friday.
