Police arrest two in September nursery fire
CLINTON TOWNSHIP Police have arrested two men in connection with a fire and vandalism last fall at Breezy Hill Nursery east of Clinton, according to the Rock County Sheriff's Office.
Edward J. Janda, 24, Wadsworth, Ill., and Glenn A. Tietz, 24, Twin Lakes, were arrested April 26 at the Kenosha Police Department on one count each of arson and criminal damage to property, according to police reports.
The arrests are connected to $25,000 in damage reported in September at the nursery, 11256 County X. A utility trailer was burned to the ground, and an office and several vehicles were spray-painted, according to a September news release from the sheriff's office.
Deputies found a 20-foot utility trailer destroyed by fire, and nursery employees reported several vehicles were damaged by spray paint and others were missing. The missing John Deere tractor, John Deere Gator and Chevrolet Silverado pickup were found under water in a pond on the property.
Kenosha police had a similar incident and heard about the Rock County case, Rock County sheriff's Cpt. Jude Maurer said. Rock County detectives interviewed the suspects in Kenosha, and at least one admitted to the vandalism, he said.
