— Janesville Parker was looking to complete a season sweep of Madison Memorial on Tuesday, but the Vikings came up short, 4-3, in Big Eight Conference softball.

Parker scored a run in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 3-3, but the Spartans came through with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to win.

“We weren’t hitting the ball,” Parker coach Jenni Seisser said. “Nine strikeouts is not what I was hoping for as far as our batting. We got two runs across in the first, but then we were flat.”

Memorial senior Rachel DeJongh went the distance, allowing six hits while striking out nine and walking one.

Parker’s Erin Muehlenkamp also pitched a complete game. She gave up eight hits while striking out three and walking two.

Kayce Chesebro’s one-out sacrifice fly drove in Brianna Lemmer for Parker’s run in the seventh.

Memorial (4-14 overall, 4-11 Big Eight) then responded. With one out, the Spartans strung together a single, double and the game-winning single by sophomore Sabrina Maicke.

Parker (6-12, 6-9) hosts Middleton on Thursday.
