— Matthew Koch was the hero Wednesday night for the Beloit Snappers.

With his team trailing 2-0 in the seventh, Koch hit a three-run homer to help the Snappers rally past the Quad Cities River Bandits, 4-2, in a Midwest League game at Pohlman Field.

The win put the Snappers (25-15) into sole possession of first place in the Western Division of the Midwest League. Wisconsin is one game behind.

David Hurlbut (2-0) picked up the win in relief. He retired all six batters he faced, including two strikeouts. Ryan O’Rourke picked up his second save with a scoreless ninth.

Koch’s home run was his first of the season, and came off reliever Brandon Creath (2-3).

Game two of the three-game series begins at 11 a.m. today.
