— Janesville Craig's softball team will enter WIAA postseason play on a high note.

The Cougars, behind Paige Weber's complete-game three-hitter, shutout Madison La Follette on Tuesday, 7-0, in the Big Eight and regular-season finale for both teams.

Craig (16-6, 13-5) took a 2-0 lead in the third before breaking the game open with a three-run fourth. Stephanie Perleberg's two-run single pushed Craig's lead to 5-0.

"I hope today was a sign of us playing our best ball at the right time," Craig coach Dan Bayreuther said. "Paige pitched a great game, and offensively, we executed very well. We had five sacrifice bunts."

Weber struck out four and walked two.

Craig opens up Division 1 tournament play Tuesday when it hosts Lake Geneva Badger in a regional semifinal game at the Janesville Youth Sports Complex.
