Rattlers shine from the line

Free throws were the difference Wednesday night for the UW-Rock County men's basketball team.

The Rattlers made 23 free throws, including nine from David Harper, en route to a 69-56 Wisconsin Collegiate Conference win over UW-Fond du Lac.

Rock County (2-1, 2-0) led by three at half but pushed the lead to double figures early in the second half.

"We played very well in the second half and did a great job at the free-throw line, an area where we struggled the first two games," Rock County coach Scott Lee said.

"It was a good win for us on the road this early in the season."

Rock County plays at UW-Sheboygan on Saturday afternoon.

-- Fond du Lac 48, Rock County 41—The women's team fell behind by eight at half and could not recover in the WCC loss.

Courtney Draeving, a Beloit Memorial graduate, led the Rattlers (1-2, 1-1) with nine points, Breanna Washington added eight.

"We just didn't show up to play," Lee said. "We were flat all night long."

Rock County plays at UW-Marathon on Monday night.
