Officials considering charges in Orfordville man's crash death
WALES The Waukesha County District Attorney's office will consider whether charges will be filed in an accident that killed an Orfordville man near the village of Wales.
Mark Wellnitz, 49, of Orfordville died at the scene of the crash Oct. 24, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office. His wife, Kristine Wellnitz, 46, was critically injured and was treated at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Wauwatosa.
The accident remains under investigation, and authorities will decide whether citations are warranted against the other driver, George Neitzel, 65, of the town of Delafield, according to the sheriff's office.
The Wellnitzes were riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on Highway 83, just north of Highway 18, sheriff's Detective Steve Pederson said. The accident occurred just before 3 p.m. when a northbound Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Neitzel was attempting to make a left turn and the vehicles collided, he said.
Nothing indicated weather, road conditions, alcohol or illegal drugs were a factor in the accident, according to the preliminary investigation, Pederson said.
