Ryan to spend time with family, reflect on election

Members of the City of Janesville Public Works Department remove barricades from in front of the home of Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., on Thursday. Along the street, a fleet of Secret Service vehicles also prepares to leave. The barricades and Secret Service agents were a constant presence the past few months during Ryan’s vice presidential campaign as Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s running mate. The fight for the White House ended Tuesday when President Barack Obama won re-election.

JANESVILLE Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is spending time with his family in Janesville after two months in which he's had precious little time to do that, according to a spokesman.
The city of Janesville removed the barricades on the streets leading to the Ryan house Thursday. The barriers went up soon after Ryan was named Mitt Romney's running mate on Aug. 11.
Secret Service members were seen driving away shortly after noon Thursday.
Ryan won an eighth term in the House of Representatives in Tuesday's election and remains a leader in his party.
"Ryan is spending a couple days with family to reflect on Tuesday night and the past few months," spokesman Kevin Seifert said in an email.
Seifert said Ryan would not be available for interviews this week, but he delivered a statement from Ryan:
"I am immensely proud of the campaign we ran, and I remain grateful to Gov. Romney for the honor of being his running mate. I look forward to spending some time with my family in the coming days and then continuing my responsibilities as chairman of the House Budget Committee and representative of Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District."

What Planned Parenthood Actually Does:
Contraception=35%
STD Treatment and Testing=35%
Cancer Screening and Prevention=16%
Other Womens Health=10%
Abortion Services=3%
Other Services=1%
Have we all forgotten that it takes two to make a baby. Men should be just as responsible for their contraception as well and not assume that women should be solely responsible for birth control. Remember that old adage: Better to be safe than sorry. It works both ways.

intersting comment- WISH they would actually use the birth control. More kids more free moeny! I think if they gave one a certain amount no matter how many kids the "more kids more money bus" may not stop by any more.
Also abortion should not be used as "birth control" seems a lot of "planned parenthood places" do this A LOT.

dtb, always and frogger- I don't see the two parties working together anytime soon. I am neither repub or demo, I'm an American who cares deeply for my fellow Americans.
Mitt is so out of touch with reality and the POS is killing America with this massive debt. Only difference between the two, one cares and one is self centered.
Welfare, food assistance, unemployment insurance is necessary as well as Social Security and medicare. Planned parenthood is needed to provide birth control for the poor or the poor will keep having babies that they can't feed, cloth or educate.
Welfare needs MAJOR overhauling, tax write offs for the wealthy needs to be overhauled.
Repubs complain about the poor getting tax payer money to survive, demo's complain about the millionaires getting tax write offs to hide in swiss acounts to dodge paying taxes. Mitt thinks the poor and vets feel they are entitled to gov help but he doesn't feel they are, as well as most far out there repubs. Yet Mitt thinks HE and most rich repubs feel THEY are entitled to gov help in the form of tax write offs.
What America needs is for both corrupt parties to disappear and get leaders that live on 50,000 to 70,000 a year like most of us Americans. Until then neither side will ever agree to work together and will always blame the countries problems on the other side.

Wiggle I understand your view point, but it is like you saying "you don't know me or my situation" you also don't know the person you are yelling at. Mitt didn't win, that fight is over. We all need to work together and as long as you look at this as a fight, how do you expect the rep. and dems. to get along? I get your fustration, but in my view and there are people I know getting $8,000 tax returns and are getting other assistance. I also earn a business and understand the reason the "rich" pay less tax is due to the deductions they can take as a businessowner. I'm sure you are taking that same deduction by deducting your payroll and other expenses. Maybe the extra wealthy shouldn't be able to take the same deductions because their profit is more than yours and mine. It would be great if they lived by the Buffet rule, but shouldn't they be allowed the same deductions we are allowed? I work hard, and try hard but don't make the profit others may but I'm still trying. Don't be mad at me or anyone else for trying to make a dollar or two. I'm sure Obama and Barnett are deducting all they can as well. All those people that donated thousands/millions to the presidental campaign are writing those deductions off on their taxes I'm sure.

Saw this first hand. Tha tis how. You are correct maybe a single mom wouldnt get welfare for $25k per yr and maybe you didn't know you could. But a married couple with FOUR kids on $25 k does.
So how much does Mitt make. Isn't he at 40% tax rate. Prob about the same as PRES!? So then when you pay taxes on you HUGE house and interest on that HUGE house and have abusiness and can write off that stuff and give LOTS to charity. I bet he STILL pays taxes. I keep hearing this he doesn't pay tax bla bla bla- or pays less than me bla bla bla. Doubt it! I see Obama is no better because I still pay lots of tax and get a refund but still is a lot of tax.

Froggie - you need to pull your head out of the fishes mouth your stuck in.
I raised my child as a single, educated mom making less than 25,000 a year. At that pay you DO NOT get food stamps, free health care, 8,000 a year back in taxes. Where do you complete idiots get this from? Oh Yeah mitten boy. I paid a higher tax rate than your Gods and didn't get one drop of gov help.
I now own my own business, make over what mitten thinks is middle class pay, and still pay more in taxes than he does. Only difference - I HIRE employees not shut down the companies and lay off Americans. Complete idiots you all are! Live in the real world with real middle class people trying to survive, until then keep your ignorance to yourself.

wiggle- and why should a family making $25,000 a year and GETTING welfare and free health care get $8000 back in taxes??? I know you wouldn't put that much in when only making $25,000 a year. Why because there is a deduction for mortgage and property tax and FOUR kids. So I ask again why it is fair to get that much money back when THE TAX PAYERS ALEREADY pay for lots of free stuff for you.
I would have to assume Mitt pay WAY more percentage in taxes than you or I but those charity deductions can be written off so he will get some of that back. Make some charity donations of your own, buy a house, etc- they add up so you'll pay less tax at the end of the year.

"we can always raise taxes again to at least make the interest payment.."
First off it's your God walker who does the - take out loans and only pay the interest payments.
And why is it so hard for you repubs to understand that if EVERYONE paid the same tax rate the debt would be less. Why should I pay more in taxes than mitten boy? Why should the middle class be the only ones responsible to pay the debt created by Bush handing billions to bankers to go on their caribbean vacation party to hand out million dollar bonuses of tax payer money yet not pay a dime in taxes on it placing the burden on the middle class.
You know the middle class right? Your Mitten boy says you all make 250,000 a year ya know, bahahahahahahaha
Mitten hasn't a clue about the middle class, you know those who make 50,000 - 70,000 a year working for a company he buys up and shuts down and takes the millions he made in the deal, ships it to his swiss accounts so he doesn't have to pay taxes on it. Mitten boy and his millionare buddies could pay the tax rate their maids pay and the debt would be more manageable. But go shove your head back up walker and mittens behind and enjoy the smell.

The election result was disappointing, to have the incumbent win with a weak record and no plan. Then again, it seems most people want a celebrity as president, so they got that.

Chief_Ten_Beers - I agree that not all democrats work well with republicans and not all republicans work well with democrats. Both sides can be accused of not compromising. However, when a group, such as the republican young guns, make it their mission to do anything to make sure that Obama isn't successfull even to the extent of jeopardizing what is good for America is totally wrong. I can understand a politician not voting for something because it is their belief or better yet their understanding what their constituents would want. I can't understand obstructionist behavior just to try and ruin a career at the benefit of the rest of American and ones constituents. Ryan is this person!

Not only did Ryan lose Rock County and Janesville, he lost his own ward. His neighbors say he and his family are nice but they just don't beleive in his extreme politics. Ryan isn't a man for Janesville. He is a man for the new district which includes Walkersha. What he needs to realize is that the country spoke and has decided which way they want to go when the elected Obama/Biden. He is the one that said that this election for the president will tell what direction America wants to go in. I think he should follow his advice and change his extremist ways.

My honest answer is Obama won and he should be able to work the next 4 years to do what he said he would do. I'm not sure that "the republicans" are 100 percent to blame if he doesn't do it. But they all should work together to accomplish success. When he ran 4 years ago he said he would balance the budget, yet from what has been said, he didn't. It seems in government there is always time for time off. I don't get that, they need to work until the work is done. Paul Ryan can be proud his career took him to the White House (even if it was almost). We all need to make America the great United States our forefathers meant it to be. We can all begin by praying for some amazing leaders in Washington, because that is what it will take. We need them to work for the people and not some company/people with just money in their pockets. And they have them on both sides of the parties.
