Craig boys fall at East
A cold-shooting Janesville Craig boys basketball team lost its Big Eight Conference opener Tuesday night.
The Cougars were 3-of-17 from beyond the arc and missed 11 free throws in a 67-54 loss to Madison East.
Craig (1-1, 0-1) trailed by one after one quarter but was outscored 20-8 in the second in falling behind by 13 at half. The Cougars cut the lead to nine in the third but could get no closer.
Nolan Maresch had nine points to lead the Cougars.
Craig plays at Madison Edgewood at 5:45 p.m. Saturday in the two schools' annual nonconference tilt.

Andre Neal scored 10 of his game-high 25 points in the first quarter for the Purple Knights. Jaylyn Edwards added 12.
