First Tee fund-raiser Oct. 27 at Riverside
A fund-raiser for the First Tee golf program in Janesville is set for Saturday, Oct. 27, at Riverside Golf Course.
The First Tee Big Cup Charity Scramble will benefit the program, which provides golf instruction to youngsters.
The fees are $75 per person or $300 per foursome. Riverside pass holders can enter for $60 each, and corporate sponsorships are available, which includes golf with cart, lunch and more than $1,500 in prizes.
Awards will be presented to the lowest men's team, lowest women's team and lowest mixed team of couples. A complimentary 2013 season pass from Riverside and Blackhawk courses is one of the prizes.
Entry deadline is Oct. 21. More information is available from Steve Loomis (sloomis@kempersports.com) or Matt Ellis (mellis@kempersports.com) at (608) 757-3080.
First Tee of South Central Wisconsin instructs youngsters, ages 7-17, values, life skills and healthy habits that help them succeed in school and life.
The Janesville program was established this past spring, and 17 participants completed the Player Level for the First Tee Certification.
The first year of the program was held at Blackhawk Golf Course. Joni Dye, executive director of the South Central Wisconsin First Tee Chapter, said about half of the 17 local participants had played golf before.
Loomis and Ellis were volunteer mentors for the local program.
