Jets hold off Wings
KALAMAZOO, MICH. The Janesville Jets outlasted the Kalamazoo Wings for a 6-4 victory Sunday to break a three-game losing streak in North American Hockey League play.
The Jets held the Wings scoreless in the second period to take a 4-2 lead into the final period. Eric Carlson scored two minutes into the second to break a 2-all tie, and Ruslan Pedlan scored at 16:08 for the Jets.
The Wings outshot the Jets, 34-26, but Janesville goaltender Brock Kautz had 30 saves to the Wings' Nicholas Stuart's 20 saves.
Kalamazoo jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Matt Salituro and Janesville native Conor Lemirande scored to pull the Jets back to even.
The Wings scored a pair of goals in the first 14 minutes of the third period to tie it at 4-4. Janesville's Eric Cruickshank scored a shorthanded goal at 17:04 to give the Jets the lead for good. Cody Rogers added an insurance goal at 19:18.
The Jets return to host Coulee Region for 7 p.m. games Friday and Saturday at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
