— Police arrested a Beloit woman on charges she stole from an elementary school parent-teacher organization and fraudulently used a credit card as an employee of the Beloit Boys & Girls Club, according to a news release.

According to the release from the Beloit Police Department:

Holly K. Flanagan, 34, was arrested and scheduled to appear in court Nov. 1 on charges of financial transaction card crimes and theft.

She is accused of taking nearly $22,000 from the Converse Elementary School PTO and charging nearly $5,400 of personal items on a credit card as an employee of the Boys & Girls Club.

The president of the club's board of directors reported in late September the fraudulent credit card charges after the club's director noticed discrepancies in the credit card bill.

Police investigators suspect Flanagan used the club's credit card for personal use between March and August 2012.

On Thursday, school officials notified police of a theft that occurred in the last year from the school PTO account. After a full audit, the amount missing was calculated to be nearly $22,000.

Police are asking other community groups or organizations in which Flanagan might have had access to their finances to review their accounting records for missing funds.

All discrepancies should be reported to the Beloit Police Department by calling Capt. Vince Sciame at 608-364-6812.
