Janesville Craig's girls volleyball team began the WIAA postseason tournament in impressive fashion Thursday night.

The Cougars, behind a strong overall game from senior Katie Villa, cruised past Elkhorn,

3-1, in a Division 1 regional opener. Craig (33-9) won 25-16, 25-19, 21-25 and 25-21. Craig plays at second-seeded Westosha Central on Saturday night.

"We played pretty well the first two games but let them back in the match in game three," Craig coach Blake Budrow said. "Fortunately, we regrouped and got the win in game four.

"Everybody in the lineup contributed for us. It was a good way to open the tournament."

Villa had 46 assists, three digs, two aces and a block.

-- Oregon 3, Parker 0—Maddie Gits caused fits for the Vikings in the WIAA Division 1 regional opener.

Parker (14-29-3) could not overcome the play of Gits or Oregon's 11 service aces.

"When a team has a superstar like No. 14 (Gits), and you don't control her, you're in trouble," Parker coach Dave Lehmann said. "We didn't play that badly, but we just couldn't contain her.

"That's kind of our season in a nutshell. We did some good things in a lot of our matches but could never quite get over the hump."

Oregon hosts Milton on Saturday night in a regional title match.
