— A $500 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of two suspects in a Whitewater battery case.

The victim in the incident is, presumably, the adult son of state Sen. Neal Kedzie, R-Elkhorn. However, a Whitewater Police Department press release did not identify the victim or the location of the attack. Sen. Kedzie, in a press release, said two men attacked his son, Sean Kedzie, the same day and time reported in the news release.

Kedzie said his son was attacked when he tried to stop the suspects from removing a political yard sign outside his son's Whitewater residence.

"Sean is still recovering from the injuries he sustained as a result of this beating, and we are confident he will make a full recovery," Kedzie said in the release. "But obviously, as parents, we are shaken by this event and very troubled it was apparently initiated and motivated for political reasons."

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin issued a release on the incident Tuesday.

"This kind of illegal behavior is completely unacceptable," said party chairman Mike Tate. "It is our sincere hope that the perpetrators of this assault are quickly identified, found and charged."

Whitewater police described the suspects as clean-shaven white males, both about 6 feet tall and weighing 185 pounds.

The department asked anyone with information to contact the Whitewater Police Department at 262-473-0555 or the anonymous Walworth County tip line at 262-723-2677.
