Raptors' season ends
MILTON The season came to an end Sunday afternoon for the Milton Junction Pub Raptors.
Kewaskum broke open a close game with two runs in the top of the seventh and went on to blank Milton, 8-0, to win the Rock River League Grand Championship best-of-three series.
Milton, which finished the season 21-5, collected nine hits but could not push a run across Kewaskum starter Brad Young.
"I was really surprised that we were shutout because their pitcher wasn't any better than anyone else we've seen all year," Milton manager Doug Welch said. "We just couldn't come up with any timely hits.
"But I don't want to take anything away from Kewaskum. They finished runner-up last year and were on a mission this year. They're a good team that simply played better than us in the series."
Josh and Joe Shere combined for five of Milton's nine hits, while Tom Scalissi's double was the only extra-base hit of the game.
