Parker golfers come out flat in conference showdown
The Janesville Parker High girls golf team picked a poor spot to shoot its highest score of the year.
With the Big Eight Conference regular-season title on the line, the Vikings shot a 398 and lost to Middleton at Pleasant View.
Middleton clinched the title with a 9-0 record. Parker finished 7-2.
"The kids just didn't show up to play," said Parker coach Mary Ross. "It was an important match, and, unfortunately, they had a really tough day."
The highlight was Kailey McDade, who led the Vikings with a 95.
"This is Kailey's first year on the varsity," Ross said. "She's been rising to the occasion all year. We need that kind of leadership going into the tournament series."
The Big Eight Conference Tournament is Thursday, Sept. 20, at Evansville Country Club.
