Actor to campaign for Obama at UW-W
WHITEWATER Actor Kal Penn will be on the UW-Whitewater campus Friday to stump for President Barack Obama.
The appearance is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in the Old Main Ballroom, Room 275, of the University Center, 800 W. Main St.
Penn is scheduled to appear at UW-Milwaukee at 2 p.m. Friday and at UW-Madison after his Whitewater appearance.
He continues on to UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh and Marquette University on Saturday, according to an Obama campaign website.
Penn is known for portrayals of Dr. Lawrence Kutner on the TV drama "House" and of Kumar Patel in the Harold and Kumar comedy films.
Penn served in the Obama administration as associate director in the White House Office of Public Engagement starting in 2009, leaving that post off and on to make movies.
This year, he has served as a co-chairman of the president's re-election campaign.

*It’s not ok for Obama to use B-list celebrities, but it is ok for Romney to use an A-list celebrity to converse with a chair? Am I following you?*
No, you aren't following me. You have shown a remarkable inability to follow along with anything during this thread.

You are probably right Tim; I may even hit you up on that. I have a couple of chairs sitting across from me right now…giving me the stink eye.

There is literally no point KP. You are better off discussing logic with an actual chair.

Using *whose logic? – I’m using ifiruledtheworld’s logic; are your comprehension skills lacking? It must be your critical thinking skills getting in the way, right?
.
It’s not ok for Obama to use B-list celebrities, but it is ok for Romney to use an A-list celebrity to converse with a chair? Am I following you?
.
You and your pal, ifiruledtheworld are speaking in complete generalities. Are you suggesting that only “qualified” voters be allowed to cast a vote in November? What makes a person "qualified?" Sorry if Jon Stewart makes sense and is entertaining on purpose. Other “news” sources are entertaining for all of the wrong reasons.

*It’s laughable to state that many college students lack critical thinking skills.*
Yeah, sure pal, such a chuckle. I guess you must have missed the trend of college freshman having to take remedial courses upon entry because their secondary education experience was *so* stellar. You're talking about a voting cohort who gets their "news" from Jon Stewart.
*I’m sure he could sway every college kids’ vote by having Adam Sandler (registered republican) do a college tour (using your logic).*
Your bile makes no sense whatsoever. Using *whose" logic? Romney isn't the one sending b-list movie "stars" famous for portraying stoned imbeciles out campaigning in places he's too busy to go. Maybe to court the senior vote, POTUS can send Cheech & Chong on a tour of retirement facilities.

"If I ruled the world, ev'ry day would be the first day of spring
Every heart would have a new song to sing
And we'd sing of the joy every morning would bring
If I ruled the world, ev'ry man would be as free as a bird,
Ev'ry voice would be a voice to be heard
Take my word we would treasure each day that occurred"

ifiruledtheworld speaking about college students said, "Many (not all) have not developed critical thinking skills, nor have they had to support themselves in the real world. They don't yet have the experience to make a wise decision. So YES, we are concerned about the youth vote making a collective dopey choice."
Do you also think "many (not all)" college-aged people in uniform that are sent off to fight our wars do not possess critical thinking skills? Do you also think that "many (not all)" of the college-aged persons fighting our wars are not supporting themselves? They are put into situations every day requiring them to not only keep themselves alive but to keep their buddies alive as well. They don't have the experience to make wise decisions? Tell that to the college-aged persons who make life and death split-second decisions to keep themselves and their buddies alive under enemy fire.
Believe me, I'm much more concerned about you and those who think like you do making a "collective dopey choice" than the college-aged persons you're so concerned about.

It’s laughable to state that many college students lack critical thinking skills. I’d love to see the research that backs that claim. Brilliant! Romney and his mom jeans have every right to campaign on college campuses too. I’m sure he could sway every college kids’ vote by having Adam Sandler (registered republican) do a college tour (using your logic). If Obama can do it with Kumar, then surely Romney can do it with Billy Madison, right?
.
That statement would be much more accurate if it said, “People that vote based solely upon political party lack critical thinking skills all together.”

Yes, Susy, to a certain degree we ARE concerned about the young voter. Many (not all) have not developed critical thinking skills, nor have they had to support themselves in the real world. They don't yet have the experience to make a wise decision. Many of college age are still duped by the "cool" factor [Obama, Hollywood, etc.] as well. So YES, we are concerned about the youth vote making a collective dopey choice.

And don't forget that Colleges seem to be the only place Obama campaigns anymore. I'm sorry, but a lot of college students will believe anything he says because they are still "wet behind the ears." If he told them the world would end tomorrow, they would think he was the greatest man ever. Well...he did "win" something like a nobel peace prize at one time...not sure for what?!?

Penn is going to register kids who may or may not be from Wisconsin to vote in Wisconsin. I would not discount this man's acting talent-he is a working actor, who actually took a DC based position to work for the obama- and his net worth is reportedly north of 15 million. By any measure he is successful. Penn will not be rounding through to do a deep dive on issues-unless free birthcontrol is a big issue. Every college student who has attended college during the obama adminstration has seen his/tuition rapidly increase due to the obama-must faster than the cost of healthcare during this same period. Perhaps Mr modi can blame Bush for the ramp up of tuition during the Obama administration.
