Penalties cost Jets
BLAINE, MINN. Penalties proved costly Thursday for the Janesville Jets.
A five-minute major for checking from behind set up Wichita Falls' first goal just four minutes into the game and the Wildcats went on for a 3-1 victory over the Jets at the NAHL Showcase Tournament.
All three Wichita Falls' goals were on the power play as Janesville was whistled for seven penalties.
Janesville, the defending Showcase champion, is now 1-1 in the four-game tournament.
The Wildcats dominated play throughout. Janesville goalie Brock Kautz was forced to make 37 saves, while Wichita Falls goalie Cooper Cook stopped 16 of 17 shots.
Austin Vieth scored the Jets' only goal to make it 2-1 in the first period. Vieth took a pass from Matt Salituro, cut across in front of Cook and sent a one-time past the Wildcat goalie.
Janesville plays the defending NAHL Robertson Cup champion Texas Tornado tonight.
