— A Janesville man will have a preliminary hearing next month on charges that a computer found in his home contained images of child pornography.

Daniel J. Servais, 66, of 3718 Curry Lane, Janesville, was charged Sept. 13 with four counts of possession of child pornography. He appeared in court Wednesday for an adjourned initial appearance.

Police in late July found 11 images of child pornography during an initial investigation of a computer hard drive found in Servais' home. Servais told police they would find 50 more images on an external hard drive, according to the criminal complaint filed in Rock County Court.

Rock County sheriff's deputies in July executed a search warrant at Servais' home after a detective in June started a peer-to-peer investigation to search for computers that were sharing electronic images of child pornography.

Servais is free on a signature bond.
