Perkins' big night leads Bluebirds

Braden Perkins and the Janesville Bluebirds were on cruise control Thursday night.

Perkins scored five goals to lead Janesville's boys high school co-op team to an 11-0 Big Eight Conference win over the Eastside Lakers.

Janesville improved to 5-7-0 in the Big Eight and 7-13-0 overall.

"That's the second time we've played them in the last week and both times we played well as a team," Janesville coach John Mauermann said. "We moved the puck well and got it to the net.

"And even though we scored 11 goals, it could've been more. Give credit to their goalie (Nate Teuscher), he made some really good saves."

Perkins got a natural hat trick in the first period as the Bluebirds raced out to a 4-0 lead.

Janesville put an astounding 71 shots on goal.

The Bluebirds wrap up the home portion of the regular-season schedule on Tuesday night with a nonconference game against Hartland Arrowhead at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
