The second half was the difference Wednesday night for UW-Rock County’s women’s basketball team.

The Rattlers used a 20-4 run to start the second half en route to a 53-41 win over UW-Fond du Lac in a Wisconsin Collegiate Conference tournament game.

Rock County (15-10) plays defending champion UW-Waukesha County on Saturday afternoon in Wausau. The winner plays for the WCC title on Sunday afternoon.

Janesville Parker graduate Julia Dement had 19 points to lead the Rattlers, while former Parker player Kayce Chesebro added 11.

“We put the ball in Julia’s hands, and she responded with a great floor game for us,” Rock County coach Scott Lee said. “She led the big run to start the second half.

“And we won despite shooting just 27 percent from the floor, including 1 of 16 from three-point range.”

Rock County and Waukesha split during the regular season.
