Bluebirds, Fury lose
MCFARLAND Austin Redders had a hat trick to lead McFarland to a 5-2 nonconference win over the Janesville Bluebirds on Thursday night.
Janesville's high school boys hockey team tied the game at 1-1 in the first on Dane Tyler's goal, but McFarland scored three times in the second to break the game open.
"We didn't start playing the way we're capable of until the third period," Janesville coach John Mauermann said. "McFarland got a couple of soft goals, and we missed some good opportunities to score.
"It's the same thing for us. We just can't put three periods together."
Janesville (4-9-0) hosts Beloit Memorial at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
