Ashley Hartwig's outstanding four-year basketball career at Janesville Parker ended with another honor.

The senior was named to the All-Big Eight Conference first team for the second straight year.

The 5-foot-10 Hartwig is joined on the first team by McKayla Yentz of Sun Prairie, Nicole Newman of Madison La Follette, Liz McMahon of Middleton and Ebony Nettles-Bay of Madison West. Yentz, a Marquette University recruit, is Player of the Year.

Hartwig averaged a team-best 14.7 points per game in helping lead the Vikings to a Big Eight title and a Division 1 sectional berth. She had a season-high 24 points in three different games and shot better than 80 percent from the foul line.

"Ashley's cornerstone was her hard work," Parker coach Tom Klawitter said. "That's what separated her from most other kids. She was willing to get into the weight room and do the little things to get better as a player.

"Her No. 1 goal was to play at state, which she didn't get to do, but she did some great things for our program and was a great leader."

Parker senior Dani Fugate was named to the second team after averaging 12.9 points per game. She tallied a season-high 22 against Verona.

Janesville Craig seniors Katie Villa and Kristi Crandall, along with sophomore Alison Hughes, were named to the third team.

Parker sophomore Morgan McCulloch was honorable mention.
