Dorothy L. Clifton, 69, of Afton, WI, died Monday, June 8, 2009, in her home. She was born in Janesville on Sept. 14, 1939, daughter of Albert and Frances Engelke Garske. Dorothy was a 1957 graduate of Janesville High School. She married Gerald Clifton on May 20, 1960, in Beloit. Dorothy was employed by Hansen Equipment Company in South Beloit, IL, Brown Swiss, and Kmart. She loved playing bingo, casino trips, doing crossword puzzles, and taking care of the fish in her pond.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Clifton of Afton; daughter, Brenda Clifton of Afton; sons, Gerald (Laura) Clifton of South Beloit, IL, and Donald (Dawn) Clifton of Afton; grandchildren: Michael, Lisa, April, Curtis, Jordon, Taylor, and Bailey; great-grandchildren: Addison, Marissa, Isiah, and Elijah; sister, Barbara Clifton of Beloit; sisters-in-law, Esther Hagood and Joy Clifton, both of South Beloit, IL; beloved pets: Bingo, Sassy, Franklin, and Snookums; and special friend, Norma Weber.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons; two brothers-in-law, Vern Clifton and Ray Hagood; and mother-in-law, Eliza Clifton.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, in the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, with Chaplain Tina Koenig Ray officiating. Burial will be in Afton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be given in her name to Heartland Hospice, 6885 Vistagreen Way, Rockford, IL 61107.
