Lynda J. Cooper, Darien  (1948 - 2009)

Lynda J. Cooper, 61, of 219 W. Beloit, Darien, WI, died on Monday, June 8, 2009, at Vintage on the Ponds after fighting a battle with ALS for many years. Lynda was born March 1, 1948, in Geneva Twsp., Walworth Co., WI, the daughter of Reginald and Sybil (Brottlund) Cooper. Linda graduated from Delavan-Darien High School in 1966. She, then, went on to Eastern Michigan University and earned her bachelors degree in education. She, then, transferred to U of WI-Whitewater in 1971. Lynda taught school in the School Dist. of Kettle Moraine for 33 years, working almost exclusively with challenged children. Lynda was a member of the Wisc. Education Assoc., D.A.R. , Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors, Darien Women's Club, Friends of Old World Wisconsin, and the Darien Community Baptist Church. Lynda loved to travel with her mother, Sybil. They traveled worldwide. Lynda was also a member of the Wisc. Historical Society. Lynda loved the community of Darien, and was instrumental in the fundraising for the new library, as well as, involved with the Darien Corn Festival and its Carmel Apple Booth. When there was a task to do, Lynda did it.
She will be missed by many, including cousins, friends, students, fellow school teachers, and her dear friend and caregiver, JINJA.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, at COMMUNITY BAPTIST CHURCH of Darien, with the Rev. John Mancusi officiating. Burial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, at Darien Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 6 p.m. at the CHURCH on Friday. A luncheon will follow the funeral services. Memorials in Lynda’s name to Community Baptist Church would be appreciated. BETZER FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
