Barbara J. Buikema, Delavan  (1938 - 2009)

Barbara Jean Buikema, 71, of Delavan, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI. She was born in Elkhorn on June 11, 1938, daughter of Raymond and Marguerite (Gray) Schilz. She married Donald Buikema on June 22, 1956; he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1989. She was employed at Andies Candies in Delavan for many years until her retirement. She was a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Delavan.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Mark) Johnson of Davenport, IA; a son, Broyn (Darlene) Buikema of Elkhorn; three grandchildren: Dalton, Bethany, and Nathan; two sisters, Mary Jane (Richard) Vorpagel of Elkhorn and Kathleen Thomas of Elkhorn; a brother, Wayne (Lela) Schilz of Darien; also nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; and her brother, Raymond.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN DELAVAN, with Rev. Brian Armstrong officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the MONROE FUNERAL HOME IN DELAVAN. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Delavan. MONROE FUNERAL HOME, Delavan, is assisting the family.
