Eugene Proctor Chrimes, Janesville  (1927 - 2009)

Eugene Proctor Chrimes, 81, a former long-time Janesville resident died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tomah, WI. Eugene was born on October 6, 1927 in Chicago, IL the son of Robert C. and Florence (Proctor) Chrimes. He graduated from Janesville High School and served in the U. S. Army of Occupation following World War II in the signal corps as a teletype mechanic. Following his discharge he worked as a lineman for the Wisconsin Telephone Company. Prior to becoming disabled, he was employed by Oak Hill Cemetery in Janesville. After his health failed, he moved to the Mosher Veterans Home in La Crescent, MN in 1970 and continued to live there until two years ago when he moved to the Time For Ease Home in Sparta, WI. While residing in Janesville, Eugene was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Chrimes of Janesville, two nieces, Kay Chrimes(Dave)Brewick of Evergreen, CO, Connie Chrimes Lisowe of Jacksonville, FL, four great-nephews: Robert Brewick, Nathaniel Brewick, Chad Lisowe, Greg Chrimes; and a great-great nephew, Tanner Chrimes. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Chrimes; and his nephew, Steven Robert Chrimes.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel, Janesville with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Father John Auby of St. William Catholic Church will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Kienow-Hilt V. F. W. Post # 1621. Arrangements are being handled by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, Janesville(608-741-1713).
