Judith A. Kneece, Janesville  (1946 - 2009)

Judith A. Kneece, 63, of Janesville, died on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at the University of Minnesota Hospital, Minneapolis, MN. She was born in Janesville on Feb. 18, 1946, the daughter of William and Esther (Westendorf) Rogge. She graduated from Janesville Senior High School in 1964, and the UW Whitewater, receiving her Bachelor of Education in Business Education. Judith had been a Janesville resident most of her life, and had been the manager of JATV since 1997. She was the Chair of the Advisory Board Women’s Fund for the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, chairwoman of ECHO’s Capital Campaign, board member of the YWCA when the organization was building a domestic violence shelter, member of the Rock County Women’s History Committee, member of the League of Women Voters for 35 years, founding member of the Susan B. Anthony’s Birthday Celebration, the Diversity in Action Team, and held a variety of national positions in the American Association of University Women. Judith was recently recognized by her peers throughout the state by being selected for induction into the Wisconsin Association of PEG Channels (WAPC) Hall of Fame. Last week she was inducted into the Rock County Hall of Fame and the induction ceremony will be held June 7, 2009, at 3 p.m. on the UW Rock County Campus.
Judith is survived by her daughter, Sarah Hach and son-in-law, Bryce Hach, both of Fort Collins, CO; one grandchild, Ivy Hach of Fort Collins, CO; and one sister, Joan Mullen of Janesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009, at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH UCC, with Rev. Wes Bixby officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.
