William R. Steindl, Janesville  (1935 - 2009)

William R. Steindl, 74, of Janesville, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at his home. He was born in Edgerton on Feb. 28, 1935, the son of Emmett and Corrine (Hansen) Steindl, and was a 1953 graduate of Edgerton High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959 and was stationed in Germany. Bill married Elsie M. Steinberg on June 23, 1956, at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 2007. He was employed by General Motors in skilled trades for 34 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Peter’s, UAW Local #95, the Loyal Order of Moose, Eagles Club, VFW Post #1621, and the Edgerton Conservation Club. Bill enjoyed spending time at Castle Rock Lake and taking a “few” trips to the casinos.
He is survived by his three children: Karla (Moises Gonzalez) Parrish of Milton, Lynne (Greg) Lund of Brodhead, and Tony (Debbie) Steindl of Janesville; four grandchildren: Patrick Parrish of Milton, Jenna and Bo Lund of Brodhead, and Haley Steindl; numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and grandson, Steven Steindl.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at ST. PETER’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, Janesville, with Rev. Bruce Gray officiating.
