Richard L. McDowell, Janesville (1943 - 2009)
Richard L. McDowell, age 66, of Janesville, died on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at home. He was born in Springfield, MO on Oct. 24, 1943, the son of Clarence C. McDowell and Grace Marie (Juergensen) Brown. He graduated from Kearney High School, Kearney, NE and North Central University, Minneapolis, MN with a B.A. in Pastoral and Bible. Richard served in US Marine Corp from 1961 to 1965. He married Sharon Colantonio on Feb. 20, 1965, in Chicago, IL, and had been a Janesville resident since 1987 moving here from Madison. He was the Pastor for the First Assembly of God Church in Kenosha, Platteville, Madison and Janesville until his retirement in 1995. After his retirement he had been employed by Van Galder Bus Company until he retired in 2008. Richard was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Rockford, IL. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Janesville; 2 children, Heather (Scott) Vieth of Appleton and Ryan (Mandy) McDowell of Janesville; 6 grandchildren: Mason, Abrianna and Elizabeth McDow-ell, Tyler, Bryson and Addylin Vieth; 5 brothers: Bill (Jan) McDowell of Independence, MO, David McDowell of Rye, TX, Eugene (Anong) McDowell of Marshalltown, IA, Wayne (Chong) McDowell of Indian-apolis, IN and Gail McDowell of Muscatine, IA; and 2 sisters, Ruth (Ralph) Breeding of Olivet, SD and Rachel (Terry) Stephenson of Ce-dar Rapids, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Twilla McDowell.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Bob Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FU-NERAL HOME.
