Lillian E. Amacher, Edgerton/Jefferson (1922 - 2009)
April 14, 1922 - October 17, 2009
Lillian E. Amacher, 87, of Edgerton/Jefferson, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Edgerton Hospital. She was born on April 14, 1922, in Chicago, the daughter and only child of the late Henry and Emily (Kloboucnik) Sikyta. She was united in marriage on Dec. 29, 1945, to Peter G. Amacher in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1994. She grew up in the apartment above Sikyta's Drug Store, which her parents owned and operated. Living next door were her aunt, uncle and her cousin, Florence Otstot, who was like a sister. They spent a great deal of time playing together. She briefly attended college, but did not continue because of the responsibility of caring for her mother, who was handicapped with arthritis. Since her early teens, she would spend summers with her mother at her grandparents' home on Lake Koshkonong. Her grandmother had a great influence on her at this time. After she and her husband retired from the family Drug Store in 1981, they took permanent residence at their home on the lake. Together they became very active in the Rock River Koshkonong Association. Memorials from her husband's funeral, helped to fund Amacher Landing at the end of Bingham Road. Lillian loved to garden, both flowers and food crops. She created a garden show place. She was also a gourmet cook and took great pride in the meals and bakery she created. She dearly loved her Pekingese dogs, always having one at her side, including the present Shen Lu, who misses her very much.
Survivors include her cousin, Florence Otstot of Arlington, VA; Florence's children, Charles A. (Sherry) Otstot and Peggy (Jeff) Shadron, both of Richmond, VA; her nieces, Carol (Dan) Anderson of Deerfield and Cheryl (Dennis) Kritsch of Iowa; nephew, Gary (Rose) Landsness of Iowa; five great-nephews and two great-nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME (US HWY. 51 S.), Edgerton, with the Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison. Friends may call on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the funeral home from Noon until the time of the service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Rock River Koshkonong Association.
