Genevieve Marsden, Edgerton, WI  (1916 - 2010)

Genevieve Marsden, 93, of Edgerton, died at her home on Thursday, July 29, 2010. She was born Helen Genevieve to Carl and Minnie (Danielson) Anderson in Sumner Township on Nov. 22, 1916. She graduated from Edgerton High School in 1934, from Whitewater Teachers College in 1936, and later received a Bachelor's Degree from UW-Whitewater in 1966. On June 26, 1943, Genevieve married Leland Marsden and lived on the homestead until her death. She taught for 31 years at numerous one room schools in Jefferson and Dane counties and concluded her teaching career at Newville and Edgerton Community Schools. She enjoyed bird-watching, game shows, reading, traveling, crossword puzzles and Bugs Bunny cartoons. Genevieve was a member of Albion Prairie Methodist Church, Ladies Aide, Friendly Builders, Lotus Club, and Stoughton Retired Teachers Association.
Genevieve is survived by her three children: Cheryl Hedgecock of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Alan (Arleen ) Marsden of Edgerton, and John (Judy) Marsden of Fond du Lac, WI; grandchildren: Beth Peterson, Scott and Chad Marsden; step-grandchildren: Randal and Rick Bardeleben, as well as 13 great-grandchildren; and favorite nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Clara Johnson; brother, Jearle Anderson; brothers-in-law: Sterling, Louis, Ralph, and Lowell Marsden; sister-in-law, Doris Staffrude; and one step-great-grandson, Malachi Bardeleben.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, August 2, 2010, at ALBION PRAIRIE PRIMATIVE METHODIST CHURCH in Edgerton, with Pastor Richard Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Albion Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the start of the service. WHITCOMB-LYNCH-ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES, EDGERTON, are assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials can be made in Genevieve's name to the Albion Prairie Methodist Church or HospiceCare.
