Dolores “Dode” Hill, 80, Janesville, passed away peacefully in the home of her daughter, Sue, on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was born in Janesville on Feb. 21, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Ada (Feltman) Robertson. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1948, and married William Hill in Janesville on Feb. 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1983. Together with her husband they ran Hill’s TV Service for many years. Dolores also worked as a bookkeeper for Meinert’s Plumbing. Throughout her life, she worked for her daughter’s cleaning service, LaChance Janitorial, and Meals on Wheels for Footville and Orfordville. She retired as a bookkeeper on Jan. 1, 2010, from Arneson Trucking. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the VFW Post #1621 in Janesville. Dode loved playing cards, especially Skip-Bo, and watching TV game shows. She loved living in the country and her many gardens. She was a great dancer, and taught her girls the jitterbug and polka when they were very young. She made beautiful crocheted Afghans for her family members and loved spending time working on plastic canvas crafts. She also very much enjoyed her two dogs, Jac and Annie.
Dode is survived by her three daughters: Nancy (Dan) Oostdyk of Spooner, Cathy LaChance and Susan (Larry) Bratzke, both of Janesville; six grandchildren: Andy (Casie) LaChance, Lisa (Kris) Kirchner, both of Janesville, Jamie (Tom) Halstad of Anoka, MN, Lynn (Tony) Johnson, Ashley (Dan) Kempf, both of Janesville, and Jenna (Ben) Anderson of Plymouth, MN; four great-grandchildren: Lexie and Kylie LaChance, Ashlyn Johnson and Chance Kirchner, all of Janesville; three stepgrandchildren: Nacoal (Steve) Walczak of Brainerd, MN, Tracy (Todd) Dexheimer of St. Paul, MN, and Jill Oostdyk of LaCrosse; three stepgreat-grandchildren: Kyler and Kennedee Walczak of Brainerd, MN, and Madelyn Jo Dexheimer of St. Paul, MN; nephew, Steve (Linda) Robertson of Janesville; niece, Cindy Slowey of Columbia City, IN; sister-in-law, Madge Robertson of Lodi; and an uncle, Wayne Robertson of Gresham, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; sister-in-law, Lovida Cameron; and brother, Marvin Robertson.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Jerry Dean officiating. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Friday from 12 until 1 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.
