Evelyn R. (Isom) Long, Delavan  (1920 - 2010)

Evelyn R. (Isom) Long, 89, of 905 E. Geneva St., Delavan, died at Willowfield Nursing Home on Oct. 6, 2010. Evelyn was born on Oct. 20, 1920, in Perks, IL, daughter of Made and Cleta (Gillette) Isom. She married John Schloesser in Waukegan, IL, on Oct. 31, 1941. They owned Schloessers Meat Market on Halstead Street, Chicago, until coming to Richmond, IL, in 1948; John died in 1952. In 1954 she married Harold Long of Genoa City, WI. In 1986 Harold and Evelyn built a home in Delavan and lived in Delavan until Harold's death in 2001. Evelyn's health failed, and she moved to Willowfield Nursing Home in Delavan. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church.
Evelyn is survived by her only son, John Schloesser of Kenosha, WI; three brothers: Melvin (Tunney) Isom of Anna, IL, Jim Isom of Phoenix, AZ, and Kenneth Isom of Grand Prairie, TX; two sisters, Maxine (Bud) Johnson of Anna, IL, and Sue (Bill) Murphy of Ullin, IL; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and brothers: Clinton, Clyde, and Ralph.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at HILLSIDE CEMETERY, Genoa City, with Deacon Phillip Kilkenny officiating. There will be a private family visitation at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the BETZER FUNERAL HOME in DELAVAN.
