John Gaffney, age 92, of Eagle River, WI, Mesa, AZ, and formerly of Janesville, died on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Milestone Senior Living in Eagle River. He was born in Eagle River on March 30, 1919, the son of Patrick and Elizabeth Gaffney. He was a 1938 graduate of Eagle River High School. John served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier.
John is survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret (Bill) Hein of Janesville; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death his parents; wife, Mary in 1997; six brothers: Lawrence, Tom, Bill, Francis, Robert and Gilbert; and a sister, Evelyn.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at MT. OLIVET MAUSOLEUM CHAPEL, Janesville, with Rev. Stephen J. Umhoefer officiating. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
