David N. Carlson, 74, of Peoria, IL, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at OSF St. Francis Hospital, Peoria, IL. David was born Feb. 5, 1938, in Janesville, WI, to Harold and Martha (Erickson) Carlson. David grew up working in the family business, Fairview Garden Center. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. On June 10, 1961, David married Connie Anderson in Readstown, WI. David worked as a landscape architect for Fairview, the City of Chicago, Franz Lipp and Associates, Peoria Park District, GreenView Nursery, and State Farm in Bloomington, IL. He was a Registered Landscape Architect, a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), and the Contemporary Arts Center. David enjoyed designing, sculpting, painting, and writing.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Carlson of Peoria, IL; one daughter, Heather Carlson of Chicago, IL; three sons: Scott Carlson of Highland Park, IL; Bruce Carlson of Cedar Rapids, IA; Erik (Bambi) Carlson of Morrison, IL; ten grandchildren; one brother, Tom (Linda) Carlson of Janesville, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Funeral service is on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at 10 a.m. at CHURCH OF CHRIST NORTHWEST in Peoria, IL.
