Tom "Little Jake" Masterson, Janesville, WI (1939 - 2012)
Tom “Little Jake” Masterson, age 73, of Janesville, died on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at Edgerton Hospital. He was born in Janesville on Feb. 1, 1939, the son of John and Helen (Riedel) Masterson. He graduated from Milton High School in 1957, and married Joan Jirasek on June 7, 1958, in Chicago. Tom has been a Janesville resident all of his married life. He had been employed by General Motors and retired in 1990. He had been a member of the Janesville Elks Club for 25 years and was a member of the Milton Historical Society. He enjoyed genealogy and took great pride in tracing his family history.
Tom is survived by his wife, Joan Masterson; two children, Thomas J. (Nancy) Masterson of Mt. Pleasant, MI and Cynthia (Robert Forrestal) Frees of Janesville; four grandchildren: Melissa Frees, Chloe, Sadie and Marlee Masterson; three sisters: Phyliss Siverly of Milton, Janet (Gary) Morhart of Milton, and Doris Purcell of Rockford, IL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Ann Herman.
A visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Rev. He lived for the times spent with his loving family, and enjoyed spending time with nature at the pond.
