Yvonne E. Gammeter, age 75, of Clinton, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, surrounded by her family at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. She was born May 29, 1937, to the late Stanley and Leona (Pernot) Herfel in Madison, WI. Yvonne attended Verona High School, class of 1955. She married Wilbert “Willie” Gammeter on May 31, 1958, in Mt. Vernon, WI. Yvonne worked at Alden Meadow Park as a nursing assistant for 15 years, the Rock Co. Healthcare Center for 10 years and for the Clinton Pharmacy for 7 years until her retirement in 1996. She was active with the Clinton Women’s Club, the Red Hat Society and volunteered at the Clinton Historical Society. Yvonne enjoyed baking and cooking for others and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Willie Gammeter of Clinton; her daughter, Brenda Gammeter; her three sons: Gary Gammeter, Greg Gammeter and Brett Gammeter, all of Clinton; six grandchildren: Suzy (Doug) Ferrin, Norris Gammeter, Debra Gammeter, Jennifer (Ryan) Kendall, Jeremy (fiancé Crystal) Gammeter and Joshua Gammeter; her four brothers: Kenny, Norman, Loren and Vincent; her two sisters, Darlene and Bonnie; and many friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Delmar.
Yvonne’s Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at JEFFERSON PRAIRIE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 23184 Bergen Road, Poplar Grove, IL, with Pastor Thomas G. Groth officiating. Friends will be received on Tuesday in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 504 Milwaukee Road, Clinton, from 5 until 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The cortege will process to the Jefferson Prairie Cemetery for interment. A memorial is being established in her name. Please share a memory or a condolence with the Gammeter family on our website.
