Claude "Dick" Shew, Janesville, WI (1928 - 2012)

Claude “Dick” Shew, age 84, of Janesville, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on Sept. 25, 1928, in Iron Mountain, MI, the son of Claude and Esther (Boehm) Shew. Dick served in the US Navy. He later married Barbara Landsverk in 1951 in Iowa. Dick retired from Gilman Engineering in 1990, as the plant Superintendent. He was a former member of the Masons, VFW, and the Elks, he was an avid woodworker, and enjoyed refinishing furniture, he was known as “The Chair Man.”
Claude is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; four children: Deborah (Gary) Roberts of Janesville, Claudia (Keith) McLaughlin of Janesville, Jacqueline (George) Cronk of North Carolina and Richard (Carol) Shew of Janesville; a son-in-law, Glenn Kramer; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Janette (Elmo) Earlywine of Brodhead; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet Kramer; and brother, Ted Shew.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, Janesville with Rev. Jim Melvin officiating.
