Maxine J. Rathje, 90, of E. Third Ave, Elkhorn, WI, died Friday Dec. 21, 2012, at Lakeland Health Care Center. She was born July 30, 1922, in Hebron, IN, the daughter of the late Raymond and Marjorie (Barton) Stewart. Maxine was united in marriage to Marcel Rathje on April 19, 1941, in Manteno, IL. He died Sept. 4, 2010. Maxine worked for many years with Elkhorn Tru-Value Hardware Store and then with Clark Office Supply retiring in 1990.
Maxine is survived by her three children: Wayne (Cathy) Rathje of Elkhorn, Marsha Rathje of Madison, WI, and Gayla Rathje of Elkhorn; three grandchildren: Mark (Amanda) Rathje, Adam (Lori) Rathje and Sonya (Jason) Battersby; and six great-grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Marcel; one son, Jerry; one sister, Ruth Shelton.
Private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given in Maxine’s name to Lakeland Health Care Center, 1922 County Road NN Elkhorn, WI. 53121.
