Clarence "Jake" McMahon, Beloit, WI  (1928 - 2012)

Clarence “Jake” McMahon, 84, of Beloit, WI, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at his home. Jake courageously fought a long battle with shingles and pancreatic cancer. He was a lifelong resident of Beloit, WI. Jake was born on March 26, 1928, in South Beloit, IL, the son of Claude R. and Marie (Gust) McMahon, Sr. Jake was a 1947 graduate of Beloit High School. Shortly after high school, he married Marian Swanson, the mother of his four sons. In 1991, Jake married Darlene Oldenburg; and they have celebrated 21 years of marriage.
Jake owned and operated several successful businesses in the Beloit area. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, gambling, fishing, hunting, traveling, spending time with his family and dog, Sydney, and being on the Rock River. He was a member of the South Beloit Businessmen’s Club and the Wisconsin Tavern League. Jake was a past member of the Star Zenith Boat Club.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene McMahon of Beloit, WI; four sons: Michael McMahon, Joseph (Becky Rodrian) McMahon, Daniel (Shirley) McMahon, and Norman (June) Oldenburg Jr.; one daughter, Victoria (Travis) Noble; six grandchildren: Steven, Ashley, Rhianna, Samantha, Savanna and Evan; two brothers, Claude (Sylvia) McMahon and Edward McMahon; sister, Estelle (Dean) Needham; and special friend, Robert Inman. He was predeceased by his parents; son, David; and two brothers, Ivan and Bernard.
Memorial service will be held at 12 Noon Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. John Hedrick officiating. Inurnment will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will also be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the FUNERAL HOME.
