George L. Kuhl, Brodhead, WI (1922 - 2012)

George L. Kuhl, age 89, of Brodhead, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Woods Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead. He was born on Sept. 18, 1922, in Green County, the son of Frank and Sarah (Bartelt) Kuhl. He married Beulah Niedermeier on Feb. 20, 1948, in Brodhead. She passed away on Dec. 13, 2011.
George graduated from Brodhead High School in 1941. He retired from General Motors after 31 years and was a member of U.A.W. Local 95. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead, served on the Board of Trustees, and was also involved with the Brodhead Area Recycling. George served in the Air Force from 1943 until 1946, in North Africa, India and China. He was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post 6858, Brodhead, and also a past commander.
George is survived by a son, Jeffrey (Shelly) Kuhl of Brodhead; a daughter, Beverly (Richard) Brown of Coon Rapids, MN; five grandchildren: Sara and Andrew (Lisa) Brown, Amy, Benjamen and Brenton Kuhl; a great-granddaughter, Lucy Brown; and two sisters-in-law, Dolores “Dolly” Stoneback of Brodhead, and Carol (Randy) Whitehead of Ft. Atkinson, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sisters: Effie Christenson, Helen Stoneback, Bessie Maass; and two brothers, Robert and Myron Kuhl.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at the BETHLEHEM LUTHERAN CHURCH, Brodhead, with Pastor Peder Johanson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, with full military rites. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI.
