Gerald W. Cook, Clinton, WI (1924 - 2012)
CLINTON, WI—Gerald W. Cook, 87, of Clinton, WI passed away at his home on June 14, 2012, at 4 a.m. Gerry was born on October 20, 1924, in Bijou Hills, SD to the late Marjory (Lackey) and Harley Cook. After serving in World War II, Gerry married Elaine Jones on December 29, 1945. He left high school early without earning his HS diploma and enlisted in the Marines at the age of 17, serving in the South Pacific Theater, 61 years later East Troy HS bestowed an honorary diploma for the ETHS Class of 1942 recognizing his achievements. In 2005 Gerry had the honor to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with his family at Arlington National Cemetery. Gerry worked in road construction for 40 years and retired in 1989, moving to Arizona until relocating back to WI in 2000. He en-joyed playing cards, golf, and bowling.
Gerry is survived by his wife of 66 years: Elaine; his daughter; Cindy Gilbank of Clinton; his sons Dave (Barb) of Clarkesville, TN and Jeff of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters Kimberly Gilbank, Jennifer, and Kelly (Kenny) Baldwin; and grandsons, James Gilbank, Greg (Elizabeth); great-granddaughter Samantha; brother Bert (Annie); and sister Dorothy (Richard) Murray.
He is preceded in death by his parents Marjory and Harley, brother Burnell and Sister-in law Lorna.

Gerry’s Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. on Monday June 18, 2012, at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 312 Church Street, Clinton, with Rev. Courtney Ellis officiating. Friends will be received on Monday at CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment and Full Military Burial will be accorded after his service.
