Robert “Bert” C. Blakesley, 91, of E. Geneva Street, Elkhorn, WI, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center Elkhorn, WI. He was born Dec. 7, 1920, in Brainerd, MN, the son of the late Paul and Edith (Brandstater) Blakesley. Bert served in the US Army from 1941 until 1945. He was united in marriage to Frances Melson on Sept. 19, 1942, in Iowa City, IA. Bert worked as an Electrical Engineer for over 40 years with Oak Mfg. of Elkhorn, until he retired in 1982. Bert was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhorn, Elkhorn Kiwanis Club, Former leader with the Boy Scouts, and served on the board of directors of Vocational Industries. Bert was an avid golfer. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
Bert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances; six children: Jane (Terry) Budworth of Prescott, WI, Judy (John) Duffiney of Des Plaines, IL, Lois (Mel) Yoshikama of Oro Valley, AZ, Bob (Linda) Blakesley of Minnetonka, MN, Weston Blakesley of Pittsburgh, PA, and Jim Blakesley of Elkhorn; seven grandchildren: 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 111 N. Broad Street, Elkhorn, WI, with Rev. Dr. Lamarr Gibson officiating.
