July 22, 1946 - October 20, 2012
John Canar, 66, died from natural causes at his home in Janesville, WI, on Oct. 20, 2012. John was born July 22, 1946, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, WI, the son of Zeno and Florence Canar of Mondovi, WI. John graduated from Mondovi High School in 1964. He was proud of being named to the Mississippi Valley All Conference Basketball team in his senior year.
John retired from General Motors, Janesville, WI, after a career of 40 years. He enjoyed observing nature, traveling and supporting the Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer teams. His travel took him to many Super Bowls, tropical islands and visits to his nieces and nephews, who all adored him. He shared his love of nature with them as he took them down to the creek looking for tadpoles or up to the lake to fish. He had an inquisitive, astute mind and enjoyed studying the stock market and other investment strategies.
John is survived by his sisters, Mary Jo Canar of Milwaukee, WI, and Marjorie F. Paletou (Wallace) of Metairie, LA; as well as brothers, Thomas H. Canar (Betty) of Clovis, CA, and Robert G. Canar (Jean) of Charlottesville, VA.
